![]() ![]() Completion of one of them transports the pilot to a hidden system where the developers hang out. I know this is a long, rambling post, so thanks for reading and if it made you think of stuff you want in the game, I'd love to hear about that too! It's exciting to be in a game community with active development where players are listened to.These storylines provide the central plot for EV Nova. That's the main one I've been thinking of, but I'd also really love to see (although I admit, it'd be hard to balance) something similar to EV:N's weapon slot expansion, which I believe made room for 4 more guns and 2 more turrets, and also maybe the ability to add heavy armor plating, at the cost of maneuverability (and since armor regen is much more limited than shield Regen in ES, this doesn't seem imbalanced, at least to me).ĮS has been taking over as the main game I play (again, it's happened before, lol), and I love it very much, but I can't help but remember my favorite things from EV:N and wish I had them here! I know ES has a modding community (so I could theoretically make a mod with this, or maybe someone else has already), but I also know that it's a game with devs who listen and are actively developing the game, with the enjoyment of their players at the forefront, so I figured. If you lose somewhere between 1-5% engine efficiency with every engine expansion, it'll make it detrimental to install more than the one or two you need to cram in the next biggest set of engines, so, similarly to the outfit expansion, it can balance itself, while providing just a bit more customization! ![]() So, either put a limit of 2 or so on it, or make it actively prohibitive to try to massively stack engine expansion upgrades, similar to the current outfit expansion's heat inefficiency stat. The one I personally really want is one that gives maybe 5-10 tons more engine space, at the expense of 10-15 tons of outfit space, and perhaps decreased heat/energy/engine efficiency. Similar to the Sigma Shipyards stuff, I'd love to see a limited and balanced implementation of customization options that can slightly change the properties of your ship. ![]() You're basically out of luck on having a fast ship. but at the end of the day, if you're literally one ton short on engine space to cram in a good thruster. In ES, there are similar upgrades to many of these, such as different scanners, the whole way you can choose your engines, shield and armor regen, ramscoops. There were actually quite a few upgrades of different types from different sources that you could buy, like sensor boosts, engine tune-ups, extra armor plating, and one that made you able to hyperspace jump faster. In general, ES has waaaay more ship customization options than EV:N, but this is one of the areas where EV:N had some fun options that I kinda. In EV:N, these were just all unlocked at an early stage of the Sigma Shipyards questline, but I would love to see a similar system for increased customization, and it could be an experiment quest chain where you develop the upgrades one at a time, maybe working with Deep scientists, or maybe the Free World's trying to soup up their less combat-capable ships. They were expensive, but could do things like: give you a bit more engine speed and maneuvering, a bit more energy and shields, just straight up add extra space (10 tons max, but no cargo space taken away!), a 10x bigger, one-time mass expansion (which could allow ships that were normally cargo ships to have a loooot more space for weapons, fighter bays, etc), and another that added extra gun and turret slots. Where it comes to customization of ships though, EV:N had one leg up imo: the Sigma Shipyards outfit upgrades. On the other hand, Ships are also much more customizable in ES than in EV:N you can choose your engines, shield generator, battery power and generation, which you couldn't do in EV:N. So that part of the whole Sigma Shipyards sorta thing, I would leave out, cuz it doesn't fit the game world and would be a rather blatant copy-paste. Now, I know there isn't a gate system like the one that could be accessed with the Sigma Shipyards storyline in EV:N (other than the wormholes, but those are different) in Endless Sky it's not part of the lore, and I don't expect something like that to be added in any official release. ![]() I've been playing Endless Sky off and on for a few years now, and I'm also a huge fan of Escape Velocity: Nova, which led me to Endless Sky in the first place. ![]()
